Jeff was predeceased by his loving mother, Janet, in 1995. This heinous and evil act was undeserving to anyone, but especially to Jeff. Jeff's life was devastatingly taken through a random act of violence, which the family believes to be a hate crime in Clearwater Beach, Florida, on October 21, 2022. Jeff loved travel and adventure, he even had dreams of traveling to space one day because of his infinite love for the stars, moon, and universe. He was an old soul, a true visionary, deep thinker, outstanding photographer, writer, and mentor. Jeff was kind, generous, brilliant, witty, sarcastic, and selfless. Jeff enjoyed the warm weather, festivals, sunsets, riding his bike, and the wonderful community of Clearwater. He chose to live in Clearwater Beach and thoroughly enjoyed all that the beach had to offer. When his youngest, Alex, completed school Jeff decided to expand his financial business to Florida. A new community of friends from Greenville created new memories for the family and his former fiancée, Kristie Moss, played a huge part in raising the kids during this time. ![]() In 2010 Jeff began his own financial company in downtown Bangor, and he and the kids moved to Rockwood to their new home on Moosehead Lake, while the kids attended high school. In the early 2000s, Jeff and his former wife, Elaine, purchased a home in Dixmont and the kids attended Bangor Christian until Sierra started high school. Jeff loved and adored his kids more than anything and was always very protective and proud. Jeff was even the youngest pilot recorded in the state at the time. They took lessons through the Owls Head Flying Club in the 1990s. Jeff and his dad, Paul, shared a love of flying. Jeff enjoyed jumping into the cold water of Howe Brook Falls, canoeing at South Branch Pond, photography, and stargazing at night. Jeff's love of adventure carried into the summer of camping trips at South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park. Jeff's love of skiing was a true passion of his that started back when he was very young and became a member of the Camden Snow Bowl Ski Patrol. Jeff and his close friends would blaze their own personal trails down the slopes, particularly the Grand Targhee, which was their annual favorite. ![]() Visiting Montana became a reality later in life when Jeff traveled out west to ski the big mountains. Jeff always spoke about visiting Montana, a dream he shared with his brother, Glen. In his adult years, Jeff's own family had two Golden Retrievers that he adored, Sadie and Tanna, who was named for the state of Montana. That remark resulted in Jeff and his mom selecting a new feline to join their already large collection of four-legged friends. His father loves to tell the story of Jeff saying "I can read when I want to" at four years of age. Even in his early years, Jeff was very bright. Jeff's childhood was filled with the love of nature, animals, and family. Jeffrey Mathew Chapman was born May 13, 1973, the third and youngest child of Janet and Paul.
